As a part of our commitment to education about this unique area of vision care, we provide workshops at no charge. Each workshop given by Dr. Metzger is unique and hands-on. We tend to keep them small, if possible, to allow for personal interaction between participants and the doctor. That said, workshops and in-services can be given to as few as five or as many as 50 attendees. They typically last about 90 minutes. The time can be adjusted based on the group's needs. Also, some attendees may earn continuing education credits for their attendance.
The goal of every developmental workshop is to learn the difference between eyesight and vision, describe the visual skills necessary for reading and learning, identify the symptoms of a possible vision problem and find out if or when vision therapy might be appropriate to treat visual problems.
The goal for every low vision rehabilitation workshop is to explain the process of a low vision exam and how it differs from general care optometry and ophthalmology, share outcomes of success stories and demonstrate the unique and vast array of devices that may help a person with vision loss use their good vision most effectively.
The topics below can be emphasized for any workshop.
- ADD/ADHD
- Autism
- Behavior Problems
- Developmental Delay
- Dyslexia and Reversals
- Infant Vision
- Lazy/Crossed Eye
- Learning Problems
- Preschool vision
- Sports performance
- Traumatic Injury
- Low vision rehabilitation
- Neuro-optometry
Lastly, our workshops are interactive. We supply a vision testing kit to each participant and demonstrate the tests with one another. Contact us to schedule a workshop or in-service at your location. |
